eJourney held its flagship workshop series, Innovative Teaching with AI, in collaboration with Yayasan Indonesia Sejahtera Barokah (YISB). This series of workshops took place on 14-15 January 2025 in Sumba and on 21-22 January 2025 in Surabaya. Educators from diverse backgrounds were brought together with a shared goal: empowering Indonesia’s education sector through Artificial Intelligence. Supported by Bank Central Asia (BCA), this workshop focuses on innovative teaching knowledge and resources to hundreds of educators. Collaboration from multiple sectors like this is important to solve various complex challenges in the education industry.
These workshops gave teachers valuable skills and hands-on experience in integrating AI into their classrooms. The sessions introduced eJourney’s AI-powered platform, a tool designed to simplify lesson planning, enhance class interactions, and reduce administrative burdens. Samples of AI-powered content made by eJourney platform can be found here.
More than 240 educators from various levels attended the first workshop in Sumba. This program became the perfect chance to discuss how technology can bridge the gap between urban and rural education in Indonesia. While many teachers were hesitant about AI’s complexity, they soon were able to follow each session by guided step-by-step, creating AI-powered teaching materials that made lessons more dynamic and accessible using StoryJourney.ai.

A week later, 200 elementary school teachers attended the second workshop in Surabaya. It was clear that educators were enthusiastic about using AI tools in classrooms. This was proven in the lively discussions and interactive sessions. They discussed their goals for using AI in their curriculum and demonstrated how the technology can improve learning outcomes more broadly.

By the end of both workshops, it was clear that AI is reshaping the future of education in Indonesia. Teachers were all excited as they left after having learned new skills from the workshop. Many of them are eager to implement AI in their teaching methods.
One of them, Nur Cholis Saleh, principal of Al Khoiriyyah Islamic Elementary School, shared his enthusiasm:
"We will soon leave the old method. StoryJourney only takes 5-15 minutes. The important thing is that the children are enthusiastic, the classroom atmosphere is more conducive, and they are more enthusiastic about learning."
The workshops also came out with impressive results:
90% of educators expressed interest in using StoryJourney for teaching activities.
91% were highly satisfied with the workshop materials.
91% rated the overall workshop experience as excellent.
The Innovative Teaching with AI workshops represent an important milestone in integrating AI into Indonesian education. Although, this is just the beginning of our movement to transform teaching methods on a national scale. We hope that this workshop will help teachers in providing the best quality teaching and learning experiences by applying AI in education.
Thus, this movement is more about the transformative power of technology, demonstrating that when education and AI come together, they can create an inclusive, innovative, and empowering ecosystem for all. The commitment of Indonesian educators to lifelong learning ensures that the future of education in the country is bright, with AI as a key driver of progress in Indonesia’s education sector.
